The Monrovia Police Officers Association is planning a fundraiser and awareness event for this Friday, Oct. 21 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Library Park.  There will be live music, BBQ and baked goods as well as raffle prizes.

The feature of the event is the Pink Patch project in which Monrovia Police officers have not only donned new shoulder patches featuring pink in recognition of Breast Cancer awareness month.  They are selling not only these patches, but also challenge coins and pink ribbon pins with replica badges in the center.  Proceeds from these sales will go to the City of Hope for Breast Cancer research.

The real highlight of the event will be a dunk tank with the chance to send the Police Chief Jim Hunt along with Fire Chief Brad Dover and City Manager Oliver Chi into the cold water.  There is even a rumor that motor officer Jim Mead may make a short appearance in the tank.
