Meeting Set for Community on Monrovia Renewal
By Susan Motander
The City of Monrovia has scheduled a community outreach meeting on the Monrovia Renewal project for Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Monroe Elementary School, 402 W. Colorado Blvd. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafetorium at the school. The newest information on the huge infrastructure repair program is planned to give residents the latest information on the program.
Most residents know, the infrastructure of the community has been aging (some of the water mains are 90 years old) and the city has undertaken a large-scale city-wide, multi-year project to repair that infrastructure. The four-year plan is to attack the problems in four phases. The first phase is what the city is calling the Southeast and Southwest areas, basically the area from Colorado Blvd. south to the 210 Freeway and from City line to City line on both east and west. Work is already scheduled for the south, northwest, northeast and northern portions of the city in subsequent years.
Since the most work with the greatest impact on residents in the Southeast and Southwest sections is set to begin soon, this is a chance to find out where the work will be done and what impact it will have on residents. All residents are welcome to attend and ask questions of city staff. If you have any questions, email can be sent to monroviarenewal@ci.monrovia.ca.us, or directed to (626) 932-5575.
