Bill touched so many lives—mine included. His generosity, humor and friendship are cherished memories. He made every day special. He made others feel special.

Special? On one of the late Eddie Logan birthdays, Bill quietly took photos of Eddie and I leaning on the rail, watching a race. The next day, Bill presented me with the photo. It is a treasure that daily reminds me of two very special people that made my time at Santa Anita so memorable.

I worked hand in hand with Bill starting in the early 1970s when I was the editor of The Thoroughbred of California magazine and had a TV show on a UHF station. Bill shot a lot of stuff that we used in both formats. He had a great sense of humor and was an absolutely thorough professional. I reconnected with him earlier this year when I needed a photo for my book “Derby Innovator,” which he gladly provided. We spent a lot of happy hours together. Great guy. I will miss him.
