Community Health Alliance of Pasadena (ChapCare) announces its continued partnership with Foothill Transit to provide health education and increased access to primary healthcare services.

Foothill Transit, the primary public transit provider of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, has again donated advertising space on 330 buses and five transit stores. Since September, ChapCare ads have been displayed on the interior of Foothill Transit buses, to bring awareness to important community health issues and to educate community members on how to access primary healthcare services at ChapCare. As a result of this campaign, underrepresented, underserved, and underinsured families in the cities of Pasadena, Monrovia, Duarte, Arcadia, El Monte and South El Monte, will receive this information in both English and Spanish.

For 2016 to 2017, key community health issues in the San Gabriel Valley to be addressed through this campaign include:

-Immunizations – Did you know? By 2 years old, children should have their vaccinations to protect against 14 preventable diseases.

-Vision – Did you know? 76 percent of children haven’t had an eye exam by age 5. By age 5, children should have already had 3 eye exams.

-Dental – Did you know? Tooth decay is the number one childhood chronic disease. By 1 year old, children should have their first dental visit.

-Mens’ Health – Did you know? Women are 100 percent more likely to visit the doctor for annual exams and preventative healthcare services than men.

“ChapCare continues to educate community members on key health issues that are affecting the San Gabriel Valley,” said Margaret B. Martinez MPH, ChapCare’s CEO. Martinez explains, “With the help of Foothill Transit, we are able to bring this important information to the community on a much larger scale, and expand access to our nationally recognized primary healthcare model. Foothill Transit continues to provide us with an exceptional opportunity to reach their 48,000 weekly riders in the San Gabriel Valley.”
