A fatal hit-and-run collision late Thursday night killed a motorcyclist in Northwest Pasadena.

Police said the collision between a gray Tesla four door sedan and a motorcyclist occurred on Thursday at 11:43 pm at the intersection of Marengo Avenue and Washington Boulevard.

The gray 2015 Tesla four door sedan is believed to have been driving north on Marengo Avenue through Washington Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it collided with a motorcyclist in the intersection, authorities said.

Pasadena Police and Fire Department personnel responded, and the lone driver of the motorcycle, a 60 year-old male Hispanic Pasadena resident was located with fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the Tesla abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot. He was not immediately located by responding officers.

The investigation is ongoing, and presently the only description of the driver of the Tesla is a male White or Hispanic.

The investigation of the collision is being conducted by the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.

The identity of the deceased motorcyclist is currently being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family members.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information regarding the collision is encouraged to call Traffic Section Lieutenant Diego Torres at (626) 744-7159 or the Watch Commander at (626) 744-4620.
