 Taste of Monrovia

Taste of Monrovia happening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday Oct. 9, local merchants and restaurants will participate in a festival of food, music and spirits. This event will take place on Myrtle Avenue and will showcase local culinary arts and beverages.  Please come out and enjoy an evening under the stars to support Kiwanis and all of the great things they do to assist youth programs in the community.  Discover and experience the thrill of world class thoroughbred racing at the Santa Anita Park on Oct 6. With free general admission on Thursdays giving patrons access to the Apron, Paddock Room, Paddock Gardens, Top O’Stretch, and 1st Floor Grandstand seating areas and Club House. Come out to Mt. Sierra College as they host a variety of food trucks for the public to enjoy every first Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. 9 p.m., along with an opportunity to participate in monthly community service initiatives. Each month, Mt. Sierra College spotlights a charity or organization that needs community support by collecting donations, volunteers, etc. There are vendors, great food, and music for all ages to enjoy. Join SEF for the annual “Kidapalooza” event on Oct. 7 in San Gabriel Valley. There will be carnival games, raffle prizes, give-a-ways, food, music, activities and more. Admission is free for the public. The event will start at 6 p.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m. at Jefferson Middle School located at 1372 E Las Tunas Drive San Gabriel, CA 91776.

Interested in learning about nutrition and staying healthy? Come join the class! These classes are designed to share insights on nutrition and mind body health through the principles of nutrition, Feng Shi, mental and emotional balance, and spiritual healing. Have a liking for vintage hot rods, trucks and motorcycles? Then come out to the Brookside Golf Club, on 1133 Rosemont Ave. in Pasadena Oct. 8. There the Family Fire Foundation will be holding the 2^nd Annual Wheels on Fire Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admire hot rods, classic rides, awesome trucks, vintage motorcycles and antique fire trucks for $5 admission or free for children 12 and under.  Food trucks, beer and wine gardens plus photos with firefighters will be included for the fundraiser.

 KROQ, the alternative rock radio station, will be hosting Brew Fest Saturday Oct 8 at the Santa Anita Race Track from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. For $5 admission, you can experience beer, food trucks, lawn games, concert giveaways and more. The 2nd Annual Homelessness is a benefit to Union Station Homeless Services that will showcase top comedic talents on Monday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m. at Arclight Cinemas Pasadena. Featured comedians include Ian Karmel (Late Late Show, Chelsea Lately, Portlandia), Jackie Kashian (The Dork Forest), Nikki Glaser (Not Safe with Nikki Glaser), Drennon Davis (Conan, NBC’s Last Comic Standing) and many more! For $40 in admission you can have the chance to see the comedians perform with 100% of event proceeds benefit the life-saving work of Union Station Homeless Services. The five member Board is comprised of Old Town merchants and is responsible for making recommendations to the City Council on programs and projects to advance the downtown area through marketing, promotion and overall improvement of the Business Improvement District. The MOTAB meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A.M. in Council Chambers, 415 South Ivy Avenue. Board members may not be a City of Monrovia employee, must have a bona fide business in the Old Town district that is subject to the Business Improvement District (BID) assessment, and must be current on their BID assessment.
