It took only 30 minutes for the Wildcats to sweep their league opponents.

Sitting their starters for the first two sets, the Monrovia Wildcats (10-1, 2-0 in league play) defeated the Blair Vikings (0-5, 0-2) (25-4, 25-4, 25-8) Tuesday afternoon in Monrovia. Wildcat’s sophomore Da’Niesha Davis (#7) finished the match with five kills and three aces, complementing senior middle hitter Vivian But’s (#15) three kills and four aces.

Though the Vikings did not record a kill during the match, they improved returning serves in the third set against Monrovia’s starters. “The effort for every ball definitely improved,” said Blair coach Janel Coburn. “Our seniors stepped up and launched that communication.”

According to Monrovia coach Wayne Teng, the Wildcat’s toughest stretch of the schedule begins next week when they face South Pasadena, San Marino, and La Cañada in successive matches.
