Brings Back Classic Plays for Sixth Season

By Kayla Hodge

A Noise Within (ANW) is celebrating 25 years of success and growth and six seasons of classic plays in Pasadena.

“Beyond Our Wildest Dreams” season is composed of the plays “Arcadia,” by Tom Stoppard; “The Maids,” by Jean Genet; “The Imaginary Invalid,” by Moliere; “King Lear, Ah Wilderness,” by Eugene O’Neill; “Man of La Mancha,” by Dale Wasserman; and “A Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens.

Founded in 1991, A Noise Within is the leading presenter classic repertory in Southern California.

This past weekend volunteers led behind-the-scenes tours of the plays “Arcadia,” “The Maids,” and “The Imaginary Invalid,” in addition to a small meet-and-greet with the professional designers and a few of the actors.

The public was able to get a sneak-peek before anyone else and got to see what goes on behind the scenes and how the actors practice their craft.

Between the four different tours, the public was able to switch and rotate to every play rehearsal, which lasted 30 minutes each.

Geoff Elliot, producing artistic director of ANW, says, “[our repertory tradition] takes three plays and interweaves them, so that the public can enjoy all different plays, directors, actors and compare and contrast each one within a week’s span, if they wanted to.”

The plays will run in a two-season circuit. Fall season began early September and will last through November, there will be a break in December for the “Christmas Carol,” and the spring season starts early March, and goes through May.

A Noise Within is located at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 E. Foothill Blvd., Pasadena.
