The Celso Salim Band at Arcadia Blues Club
The Arcadia Blues Club will welcome world-renowned Brazilian musician Celso Salim on Sept. 16, from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Celso Salim is an artist that can effortlessly cross genre boundaries to create something that is personal and compelling. His music takes on a bevy of genres, mixing deep blues with hints of jazz, soul, honky-tonk, and even touches of classic rock. He is a modern blues man rooted in the past.
Salim started playing guitar at the age of six and by his teens he was focusing on early blues artists. From age 17 to 20 he lived in the United States, where he got deeply involved with a variety of American styles, including country, folk, jazz, soul, and rock and roll.
Salim has established a solid and productive career with five solo albums out, becoming one of the busiest and most respected blues artists from Brazil.
In a short period living in Los Angeles, he did openings for Canned Heat & Kim Wilson and, after winning first place in the 2015 Southern California Blues Society (SCBS) battle of the bands, he represented the SCBS at the International Blues Challenge 2016 on Beale Street in Memphis, Tenn.
