The Arcadia Chamber Welcomes Breeders’ Cup

Breeder’s Cup World Championships stands as one of the world’s greatest and most prestigious horse racing events. It commences this year Nov. 4 and 5 for the record ninth time at Santa Anita Park.

On Sept. 1, the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce welcomed Sr. Director for Ticketing & Horsemen Relations of Breeder’s Cup Brandy Stoekinger, who gave attendees of our Government Affairs Forum a comprehensive look into the event’s history, effect on local businesses and worldwide appeal.

In addition to this, Director of Community Service and Special Projects for Santa Anita Park Peter D, Siberell offered insight into the steps being made by Santa Anita Park to best accommodate the large event.

“Our message this year is Come Early,” a statement shared by Brandy which communicates the local and international audience the Breeder’s Cup brings in and how this in turn has had the effect in previous years to generate around 65 million dollars in economic impact for the hosting city. A figure which makes Breeder’s Cup the second largest sporting event in Los Angeles. This year the Breeder’s Cup team has worked diligently to reward those who come early, in particular on Nov. 2, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. they are partnering with the City of Arcadia as well as Santa Anita Park to commemorate the unveiling of Zenyatta’s “Walk of Champions” plaque.

Being such a large and impressive event, which in Los Angeles is only outdone by the Rose Bowl, has gained the attention of many renowned celebrities such as Tony Bennet and Kate Upton. In the past notable entertainment for Breeder’s Cup has included performances by Richie Sambora.

Santa Anita Park is on track to recruit 350 volunteers to the event, people who will aid in helping as greeters, drivers, ticket assistance, photography assistants, and information sources. For more information on becoming a volunteer to the Breeder’s Cup please contact the Santa Anita Park’s volunteer coordinator Kaitlyn Lavo, at Kaitlyn.Lavo@santaanita.com.
