Police Blotters: Aug. 21 to 27

Aug. 21

Just after 10:25 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue for equipment violations. An investigation revealed the driver was on parole and in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a Taser, and two bullet-proof vests. The 31-year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., officers responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a shoplifting report. A loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal items in her purse before exiting the store, failing to make payment. Officers contacted the suspect walking southbound on Baldwin Avenue. An investigation revealed the suspect had stolen merchandise from Charming Charlie and Sugar K. She was also in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The 34-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Aug. 22

At about 7:25 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue for expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 39-year-old female from Arcadia had been driving without a driver’s license. She was cited and released in the field. Her vehicle was left legally parked.

At approximately 9:07 p.m., officers responded to the area of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue regarding a robbery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the victim was sitting in his car when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect demanded money from the victim. The victim, in fear for his safety, pulled out his wallet to give money to the suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet and fled the scene in a white vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 23

At about 4:05 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of Lovell Avenue regarding a suspicious occupied vehicle. Upon contacting the occupants, the officer detected a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. An investigation revealed the three subjects were in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a shaved key, a blank check, counterfeit bills, and stolen property. One subject had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Two females from Los Angeles, 21 and 22-years-old, along with an 18-year-old male from Arcadia were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 7:53 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Lower Azusa Road and Durfee Avenue for speeding. An investigation revealed the driver was driving a stolen vehicle. The driver disobeyed the officer’s orders and sped away. The officer pursued the suspect until the suspect drove on the wrong side of the road. Shortly after, the stolen vehicle was recovered by El Monte Police Officers. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 24

At about 12:23 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of San Miguel Drive regarding a residential burglary. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by leaning a ladder against a wall and climbing into a window. The suspect(s) ransacked the residence before fleeing. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after 12:24 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 2 E. Duarte Road, regarding a call of unknown trouble. An investigation revealed the suspect entered the store with a dog. The victim told the suspect that dogs were not allowed inside the store. The suspect punched the victim twice in the face. The victim attempted to detain the suspect. A struggle ensued and the suspect produced a knife. Witnesses were able to assist and detain the suspect until police arrived. The 19-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Aug. 25

At about 12:25 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Palm Avenue and Holly Avenue for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a knife, a handgun, and stolen property – including several identification and credit cards belonging to other people. The 36-year-old male from Panorama City was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Shortly after 1 p.m., an officer responded to Rite Aid, 39 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a female who was unconscious and unresponsive. The officer discovered that the subject was not breathing and had no pulse. He immediately began administering CPR on the subject until Arcadia Fire Department Paramedics arrived. The paramedics advised they were able to obtain a pulse on the subject. She was transported and released to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for care.

Aug. 26

At about 3:07 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the area of Fifth Avenue and California Street for an equipment violation and expired registration. An investigation revealed the driver, a 38-year-old female from La Puente, was driving with a suspended license and the passengers, 20 and 26-year-old males from Hacienda Heights, had several outstanding warrants for their arrests. They were also in possession of burglary tools, a CO2 Airsoft Revolver, and stolen mail. All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 12:34 p.m., an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near the area of Peck Road and Clark Street for reckless driving. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the suspect failed to stop at a red light and caused a traffic collision. The suspect fled the scene of the accident on foot and was ultimately detained by officers. The 15-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Aug. 27

At about 1:12 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the area of Second Avenue and Wisteria Avenue for expired registration. An investigation revealed the driver was driving with a suspended license and he was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The passenger had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and he was in possession of a concealed firearm with the serial number removed. The driver, a 24-year-old male from Pasadena, was issued a citation and released at the scene. The passenger, a 22-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 5:30 p.m., an officer responded to 7-Eleven, 1003 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding the report of vandalism to store property. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) attached a skimming device to the card reading portion of the ATM machine inside the store. The investigation is ongoing.
