Metro, in co-ordination with BikeSGV, had originally scheduled 626 Golden Streets, a walking and biking event, on June 26. Unfortunately, the San Gabriel Complex fire had strained local resources and compromised the local air quality, so the event was cancelled at that time.
The event had promised a 17-mile route for people to walk, jog, skate, or bike along otherwise closed streets following the path of the Gold Line, with visits to each of the stations along the way.
Metro and representatives of the cities along the way have been meeting to reschedule. A definite date next spring has not been set, but March 5 is being discussed.
