Starting next Monday, Aug. 22, there may be period closure of Monterey Avenue in the first block south of Huntington Drive to allow for improvements to damaged sewer pipelines in that area. The area is between the parking lots for Huntington Oaks Shopping Center and Courtyard by Marriott.
The work is scheduled to take five to seven working days, with most of the work being done between during night hours in order to complete the work in a timely manner. There will be a crew from Gibcon Inc. of five to 10 people using heavy equipment.
The city has indicated that there could be some construction noise and that steel plates will be placed on the street to allow for driving during the construction. The city has urged the use of caution when driving in the area and should plan to take alternate routes.
The city has placed electric message boards at the site to alert drivers of the upcoming construction.
