Pasadena Resident Stars in New World Premiere Play

Pasadena resident Sarnica Lim will be one of the stars of the new world premiere play, “As Straw Before The Wind,” which offers a window into the life experience of a Filipina nurse who survives the trauma of World War II, only to discover that her war is not yet over.

Presented by As Straw Productions, Sarnica Lim will portray the role of Pilita Santos, the daughter of the character Nene Santos, a Filipina nurse and enterprising owner/operator of a fictionalized San Gabriel Valley convalescent home, who will be played by actress Tita Pambid.
Sarnica Lim is a Japanese-Filipino actress and artist whose theatre credits include: “The Sex Show” (Highways Performance Space), “Young Explorers League” (Christ Church of the Valley), “Shinsai: Plays for Japan” (Japanese-American National Museum), “Tohubohu! Total Improv” (Rachel Rosenthal Theatre Company), site-specific work for Opera Del Espacio, and numerous appearances at California State University, Los Angeles, including: “Couplings Dance Concert,” “Home Schooled,” “Moving Dance Images,” “Gun In A Metermaid’s Hand,” “Girl 7,” and “Machinal.”

Independent film credits include: “X-8,” “Misconception,” “Goddamn It, I Love You,” “Do It Yourself,” and “The Calling.”

Lim holds a bachelor’s in theatre arts and dance from California State University, Los Angeles.
Written by Felix Racelis, under the direction of Lesley Asistio, “As Straw Before The Wind” will be presented for four weekends at the Ruby Theatre at The Complex (6476 Santa Monica Boulevard, Hollywood). Shows will run on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., from Aug. 13 to Sept. 4.
