Maestro Victor Vener and his California Philharmonic (Cal Phil) are thrilled to welcome some of Opera’s finest artists, “Center Stage,” on Sunday, Aug. 7 at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall.

An explosively entertaining concert that masterfully mixes Broadway, Opera, and music, performed by a world-class orchestra with amazing vocalists, including the Cal Phil Chorale, “Center” Stage features popular pieces from “Porgy & Bess,” “Grease,” “Frozen,” “Showboat,” “Aida,” “The Lion King,” “Carmen,” “Samson & Delil,”and more.

The talented trio of special guests include Audrey Babcock, an award-winning mezzo-soprano who has taken the Opera world by storm with her commanding and powerful performances as “Carmen;” Delicia Malkia Smith, a sensational soprano who has performed with the likes of such legends as Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones; and award-winning bass-baritone Cedric Berry, who is not only a Cal Phil Favorite, but a resident atist with the Los Angeles Opera.

“I look forward to sharing the stage with some of Opera’s most talented artists and performers,” said Vener. “‘Center Stage’ is guaranteed to be a spectacular show and a memorable experience for the audience as well as those performing.”

The 2016 California philharmonic summer season “Grand Finale,” also inside the miraculous wonder that is Walt Disney Concert Hall, takes place on Sunday, Aug, 21.

Filled with favorites, the “Grand Finale” soars with music from “Star Wars,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” “Raiders Of The Lost Ark,” and “Harry Potter,” as well as the “1812 Overture” and Liszt’s “Piano Concerto No. 1.”

Even more exciting, the “Grand Finale” marks the return of California Philharmonic spectacular special guests who grabbed headlines worldwide following their wildly unique and dynamic dance performance during the Orchestra’s 2015 Christmas concert, animation, popping, and robotic hip-hop dancers Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer, James “B-Dash” Derrick, and Kevin “Konkrete” Davis.

Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall performances start at 2 p.m., with the intimate pre-concert “Talks With The Maestro” at 1 p.m. in BP Hall

The California Philharmonic is supported by the California Philharmonic Society, a non-profit community benefit organization whose main emphasis at this time is to support the California Philharmonic
