The 18th Pasadena Bead and Design Show begins on Thursday, July 28 – and goes through Sunday, July 31, at the Hilton Pasadena, 168 S. Los Robles Ave.

This premier bead and design show features superb artistic beads, gemstones, one-of-a-kind jewelry, designer clothing, jewelry supplies, and vintage items.

From the start, Pasadena Bead and Design Show has been at the vanguard of the handmade movement with the idea that handwork is the highest form of art. The show has become a living, breathing entity – very popular with gallery owners, designers, and crafters, as well as the community at large – in fact attendees come from all over the world.

The designer products and artisan workshops promoted by the show are inspired – not only – by the contemporary handmade movement but also by the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century – products made with careful, meticulous detail, natural materials, and sensuous colors, such as hand printed fabrics, hand-loomed textiles, hand sewn clothing, handcrafted beads, and jewelry.

This is an opportunity to shop for these handmade products and buy them directly from the artisans and tradespeople who make them – and at excellent prices. The product list is vast and includes unusual items, such as original lampwork beads, hand-cut gemstones, felted hats, artwear, hand-dyed silks, raku beads, painted linen, hand tooled leather, and eco-dyed, and upcycled clothing.

Every exhibitor is carefully chosen – whether they are handcrafters, high-quality merchants, or wholesalers – and it is well known that Pasadena Bead and Design Show brings together the best and hottest products and exhibits them with simple grace.

Over 150 workshops are offered daily, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. They are artisan taught and offer step-by-step instruction for all skill levels. Workshop topics and projects for this show will include jewelry design, metal work, wirework, crystal setting, bead making, art clay silver, hand knotting, mixed media, chainmaille, and enameling.

Show is open to the public – everyone is welcome. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., July 28 to 31.  Admission is $10 – which is good all four days. For more information, visit www.beadanddesign.com.
