Representatives from Raw Inspiration, the company Monrovia has contracted to manage the Friday Street Fair, have been meeting with city representatives regarding their plans. While the company will be taking over the management of the event starting Aug. 19, they do not plan to implement all their planned changes until the Sept. 2 Fair. The time in between will be a trial period, of sorts. They plan to have all the changes in place by the first fair in September.

Oliver Chi reported on several of the changes in his weekly city manager’s report. According to Chi, Raw Inspirations has already hired an electrical company to design an overall electrical plan for the fair. In addition, Raw Inspirations has developed a new layout for the Street Fair and has also identified new vendors, including new farmers and purveyors of other specialty food products, flower vendors, and artisans.

Raw Inspirations also plans to designate the first Friday of each month as Kids’ Day, with special events focusing on the youngsters. There will also be a change for the community to vote at the Street Fair for a Monrovia School to win a grant of up to $2,000 for a garden.

Starting last week, a team of approximately a dozen employees of Raw Inspirations went to the street fair to meet with the vendors. They have also designed a flyer to publicize the event.
