No Fireworks Related Fires in Monrovia
According to Interim Fire Chief Brad Dover, there were no fires caused by fireworks in Monrovia over the Fourth of July weekend.
There was one call related to a small fire in “the Valmont area” on the Fourth itself, according to Dover, but this incident was apparently caused by an electrical problem and was limited to the area around the deck of the home.
The interim chief also said that there were several calls for medical assistance. The fire department also staffed the first aid booth at the city of Monrovia’s Fourth of July event in Library Park. There they assisted a few individuals with minor injuries, none of which were related to the fireworks display.
Dover said that the potentially hazardous holiday was relatively accident-free in Monrovia. “I prefer letting the professionals handle the fireworks,” he commented.
