Members of Arcadia High School’s (AHS) Advanced Theatre program recently received special recognition from Mayor Tom Beck at the July 5 Arcadia City Council meeting for winning the First Place Sweepstakes Trophy twice this past year.

These talented students scored higher than 90 other high schools, including all the Los Angeles performing arts schools, at both their Fall Festival and Spring Shakespeare theatre competitions, sponsored by the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California. AHS Theatre Director Steven Volpe commented, “I am grateful to be in a school district and community that values and supports theatre arts education.”
