
Gabriella Sherman, MD, FACP, MBA, has been appointed to the position of vice president, clinical innovation and performance improvement, Huntington Hospital, effective June 1. Dr. Sherman earned her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Va., and her MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, focusing on strategy, operations, finance, and management.
In her new role, Dr. Sherman will be utilizing her medical and business background to explore and help develop new care models as the hospital moves from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement models. Her initial focus will be on the first CMS-mandated value reimbursement program in orthopedic bundled payments, as well as serving as a key member of the perioperative surgical home program.

Dr. Sherman will be collaborating with Huntington Hospital physicians to implement clinical innovations in care delivery, allowing physicians to drive decisions, while ensuring practices are aligned with the hospital’s goals.

Dr. Sherman did her internal medical residency at Huntington Hospital and is presently the associate program director. She is a physician advisor for the Anthem Vivity Clinical Integration Network and a physician champion for ICD-10, designing and implementing web-based educational training across 10 different medical specialties, to provide physicians with on-demand, high-quality resources to improve documentation capture.
