On June 8, Inner City Law Center (ICLC) hosted their 16th Annual Awards Luncheon at the Omni in Downtown Los Angeles. This gala was attended by some of the most prominent attorneys, judges, and public figures in the Southern California, including: Tom Girardi, Tom Nolan, Andy Esbenshade, Dave Walsh, and Police Chief Charlie Beck, to name a few.

But they do not come to rub elbows or network. They show up to support the extraordinary work ICLC does of providing high-quality legal assistance to those who have nowhere else to turn. The organization is recognized for its expertise in housing issues, veterans’ benefits, and homelessness prevention.

Inner City Law Center honored DecisionQuest and Michael Cobo with its Katharine Krause Award for his longstanding history of protecting human rights, securing civil liberties, and promoting justice for those most underserved by the legal system. Presenting the award was Nancy Mintie, founder of ICLC.

Also honored was the law firm Girardi Keese for their support of the work of ICLC. Under the leadership of board member and long-standing, generous supporter, Amy Fisch Solomon, Girardi Keese’s attorneys expertly co-counseled with ICLC on a variety of cases – from defending individual families facing evictions, to representing dozens of tenants demanding an end to the uninhabitable living conditions in their buildings.

Edward Roski, recipient of ICLC’s 2015 Humanitarian Award, presented this year’s honor to Tom Girardi in recognition of his law firm’s unwavering commitment to providing legal representation to those who need it the most.
