The Tournament of Roses® Foundation elected Philip V. Orozco and Amy Wainscott to the Foundation Board. These new members replace outgoing board members Laura V. Farber and Karen Palmersheim, who provided a combined five years of outstanding service and leadership.
The Foundation Board also elected officers: Maxine Harris, vice president; Norma Garcia Kachigian, treasurer; and Jerri Price-Gaines, secretary. Members continuing to serve on the Foundation Board are Katherine Martinez Kleine, president; Shannon Boalt; Nancy Neal Davis; Mitchell Ing; Rick Jackson; Charlie Martinson; Robert B. Miller; and Libby Evans Wright.
Philip Orozco has been a Tournament of Roses volunteer since 1993. He has served on various committees including the Executive Committee, Membership Development, Student Ambassadors, Post Parade, Formation, and Parade Operations. Professionally, Orozco is a senior analyst managing grants for the Los Angeles Fire Department. With more than 10 years of grants experience, he has managed more than $60 million in federal homeland security grant funds for the City of Los Angeles.
Orozco’s previous positions include site operations at El Pueblo Historical Monument, housing liaison to the Mayor’s Office for the Targeted Neighborhoods Revitalization Program and senior project manager for the Northridge Earthquake Neighborhood Recovery Program.
Orozco attended Occidental College and Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor’s in political science. He is an active leader in Boy Scout Troop 2 in Newhall. Orozco resides in Santa Clarita with his wife, Jean, and their two children, Ryan and Kameryn.
Amy Wainscott has been a Tournament of Roses volunteer member since 1992 and was elected to the Tournament of Roses Executive Committee in 2014. Wainscott will serve as president for the 2022 Tournament of Roses, providing leadership for the 133rd Rose Parade® and 108th Rose Bowl Game® on Jan. 1, 2022. Throughout her extensive Tournament career, Wainscott has served on and chaired various committees including Music, Coronation/VIP Tailgate, Float Entries, Queen & Court, and was the first woman to chair Parade Operations.
Wainscott studied administration of justice at Pasadena City College and construction management at Cal Poly Pomona. In addition to her many years of service in the Tournament of Roses, Wainscott worked briefly for the City of Pasadena before making a career in the construction industry in the Pasadena area. She was a member of the steering committee for the original Rose Bowl Press Box Renovation in 1992, working for the construction management company. After 15 years as a general contractor specializing in residential construction and remodeling, Wainscott retired from the construction industry. She remains active in real estate investment and property management. Amy and her husband Tim have six children and live in San Dimas.
