Carol Libby, Senior of the Year, Hosts Fundraising Event in Backyard

On Sunday, May 15, the Friends of the Arcadia Historical Society held their annual “Garden Party” fundraising event, hosted in the backyard of Senior of the Year, Carol Libby. The fundraiser had over 100 guests in attendance in Libby’s spectacular garden.

Many door prizes were awarded Arcadia Chamber members, including Matt Denny’s and Vintage Treasures. A $1,000 scholarship was also donated to a current Police Explorer/Cadet looking to advance his or her career in law enforcement.

Volunteers from the Arcadia High School helped serve trays of gourmet specialty desserts, hot tea, and lemonade.

The ladies wore tea party hats as they enjoyed the large array of tasty tea sandwiches and decadent desserts. Raquel Mc Laughlin of Vintage Treasures and Antiques Arcadia won “Best Vintage Hat.” Other categories included “Most Colorful.”

Donna Lee, Arcadia Chamber member, won an amazing door prize. She said it was the best display of beauty, landscape, and afternoon tea time for a cause.

Jill Kendrick, chairwoman of the Arcadia Assistance League’s “Bargain Box” helped to lead the festivities with the Friends Arcadia Historical Society Ladies.
