The Arcadia High School Film Festival will be returning for its second time on May 20. Films can be created using live action, animation, stop motion, and even 3D animation.

Peter Veerman, Arcadia High School Film Club president and the host of the festival, said that the event forms into an excellent platform for students who are interested in video production. He also noted that the festival will give students work exposure and allow them to receive feedback from video production professionals.

Each student who submits a video will be awarded an AMC gold movie ticket and have a chance at a $600 prize pool. The top three winners will also receive a free all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ at Baekjeong. Although the top three places will be selected by a group of professional video producers, the fourth award will be given to the video with the most votes chosen by the festival attendees.

There will be three guest speakers, including Justin Tan. Tan is a former Apache and is currently a video producer at BuzzFeedVideos.

Cicilia Chi submitted a film to the film festival this year. She said that “creating a video for the film festival takes a long time, however, when they show your video to the crowd at the festival it is exciting.”

Middle school students and elementary school students are also allowed to register. To submit your video, visit film.cardentrader.com. There is a $10 entry fee. Submissions deadline is on Sunday, May 15, at 8 a.m.

Attendees will have a chance at receiving prizes such as t-shirts and Amazon gift cards.
