Witness Apprehends Arcadia Hit-and-Run Suspect

Shortly after 6 p.m., on Saturday April 23, Arcadia Police Officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run traffic collision in the 100 block of Westbound Huntington Drive. A vehicle traveling in the number one lane of Westbound Huntington Drive struck two pedestrians in the mid-block crosswalk. Both the 56-year-old woman and her 17-year-old niece suffered moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Both persons were transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The driver of the passenger vehicle made no effort to stop and render aid, so a witness followed the suspect a short distance until officers were able to contact her.

The suspect was identified as Rebeca Gonzalez, who was a 54-year-old resident of Arcadia. Gonzalez was charged with a violation of CVC 20001(a) – duty to stop at the scene of an accident. Gonzalez will be booked and housed at the Arcadia Police Department. Gonzalez’ bail will be $50,000.
