Dorothy’s Place: Clearing Out
By Dorothy Denne
It is time again. I am clearing my desk and side stand, and top shelf of little slips of paper I have torn, cut, scribbled, etc. …
As I collected them I generally thought each would be a start idea for a column. Well, now instead of start ideas, I am going to share them with you as a bunch before I toss them. If I have an author, I will give credit. Otherwise, your guess is as good as mine but I obviously think it is worth repeating.
Here we go:
Aging seems to be the only available way to live a long life – (Daniel Auber).
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill – (unknown).
Live with it while you deal with it – (unknown).
Mark Twain’s example of aging vigorously: “I am able to say that while I am not ruggedly well, I am not ill enough to excite an undertaker.”
Seeing a spider isn’t a problem. It becomes a problem when it disappears – (unknown).
If you love somebody, let them go … if they don’t come back no one wanted them – (unknown).
Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.” – (George Burns).
Gone are the days when girls used to cook like their mothers. Now they drink like their fathers – (unknown).
Life’s a trip … but it doesn’t come with a map! – (unknown).
Life is like a game of cards. No tellin’ which player is gonna draw the Old Maid – (paraphrased by me).
And a couple of my favorites:
I didn’t make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.
I’d Rather Be Fat Than Eat Oatmeal.
