March 3 (Thursday)

Family, Friends, and Food Trucks (March 3 @ 5:30 p.m., Mt. Sierra College, 800 Royal Oaks Drive). Mt. Sierra College hosts a variety of food trucks for the public to enjoy; along with an opportunity to participate in monthly community service initiatives. Each month, Mt. Sierra College spotlights a charity or organization that needs community support by collecting donations, volunteers, etc. There are vendors, great food, and music for all ages to enjoy.

Lindsay Saunders and Rob Lindstrom Perform (March 3 @ 8 p.m., The Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N. Lake Ave.). Lindsay Saunders is a Taylor Guitars Artist Partner (May 2014), with notable performances at events such as the Sundance Music Fest, SXSW, and CMJ Music Marathon. Rob Lindstrom writes and sings songs that for most of his life were a shameful hobby committed behind closed doors. Paladins of America – Live Storytelling (March 4 @ 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monrovia Community Center, 119 W. Palm Ave.). Here at Paladins of America, we tell the stories of the unsung heroes who embodied the American spirit to the fullest and what we can learn from them. Seeing the damage being done to their country by the over-focusing on the negative aspects of our nation’s founding, the crew of Paladins of America wishes to bring a teaching of all the good “firsts” that the American spirit has brought into the world. Produce in the Park (March 5 @ 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Old Town Monrovia, Myrtle Ave. and Lime Ave.). The Monrovia Produce in the Park is a group of people dedicated to sharing locally grown food in an effort to: decrease food waste; exchange gardening, cooking and other useful tips; and create a community of awesome people. Native Hope International presents the 19th Annual Native Hope International Pasadena Pow Wow. Local High School Color Guard Competitions (March 5 @ 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monrovia High School, 845 W. Colorado Blvd., March 5 @ 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Azusa High School, 240 N. Cerritos Ave.). The Winter Guard Association of Southern California will be holding two Color Guard Invitational contests this Saturday, March 5, at Monrovia High School and Azusa High School. The Monrovia show will have over 50 local color guards competing in different classes. The Azusa contest will also have over 50 different high school color guards performing. Tickets for both events will be $10 and sold at the gymnasiums at each school. Pasadena City College (PCC) Flea Market (March 6 @ 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., PCC Campus West Side, corner of Hill Ave. and Del Mar Blvd.). One of the Southland’s largest flea markets, the show is held the first Sunday of every month. Come enjoy the browsing and the bargains. With over 500 vendors, the Flea Market features fascinating antiques and collectibles, thousands of records, tools, clothes, toys, and much more, not to mention food and good company. Screening: “Downton Abbey” Finale Event (March 6 @ 3 p.m., The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road). In association with PBS SoCal, The Huntington will host a screening of the final episode of the award-winning Masterpiece series “Downton Abbey.” Find out how the story ends for the aristocratic Grantham family and their servants in the acclaimed drama filmed at the real-life English country estate of Highclere Castle. This special screening is paired with an introduction to the Highclere collection at The Huntington by Catherine Hess, chief curator of European art, and ends with an after-hours reception in the Huntington Art Gallery. YMCA Free Open House (March 7 @ 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd.). Pasadena-Sierra Madre YMCA will host a community open house at its new home, Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center. Fun for the whole family, the Y will provide healthy snacks, free group exercise classes, arts and crafts for kids, face painting, and Y tours. The Songwriter Serenade (March 8 @ 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Matt Denny’s Ale House, 145 E. Huntington Drive). Performers play their original songs for the audience on a lovely patio with a warm, inviting atmosphere. There are all styles and genres of music, with four or five different songwriters each week. The music is on a patio which is covered and has plenty of heaters for a warm, cozy evening hosted by JC Hyke.

National Pancake Day: Free Pancakes (March 8 @ 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., IHOP, multiple locations). Now in its 11th year, IHOP restaurants will give away millions of free pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and ask guests to leave behind a voluntary donation for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Shriners Hospital for Children, and other local charities.
