Michael Gross, a local resident and favorite of the Pasadena International Film Festival, once again finds his work screening at this year’s upcoming festival on Saturday, March 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the Laemmle Playhouse 7 in Pasadena.

This comedy feature film is the story of bar owner Murray (played by Gross), who chooses to close his remote karaoke pub because of dwindling clientele and smoking laws. When a freak blizzard strands a disparate collection of dysfunctional misfits, his hope for a quiet closing is overcome by an avalanche of unexpected events.

Film star John Savage (“Deer Hunter,” “Hair,” “Godfather III”) plays opposite Gross as his estranged best friend, coming to collect his karaoke equipment on this blizzard-y night. The movie is filled with original music in the jukebox, as well as two original songs written for the movie. Paula Jai Parker (“Hustle & Flow,” “Phone Booth”) performs the Kelly Zirbes-written tune, “Without A Song” as the bar guests reminisce about the discoveries made on this wintery night. Marvin Glover (a producer on the film) and his songwriting partner, Greg Cortez, wrote and perform the second original song for the film, entitled “No Last Call for Love.”

This is the second film for the award-winning directors and producers, Linda Palmer and Michael Gross, in the Pasadena International Film Festival. Their multi-award winning short film, “Our Father,” was an official selection of the festival in 2015. The premiere will be like old home week for Pasadena residents Gross, Glover, Parker, and Chris Pentzell.

The entire cast includes Michael Gross, John Savage, Paula Jai Parker, Eileen Grubba, Jerry Kernion, Elina Madison, Eric Erickson, Rachel Alig, Chris Pentzell, Lars Slind, Andres Perez-Molina, Shanna Malcom, and Joe Hart.
