Feb. 7
Just after 1:50 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Centennial Way. A search of the vehicle revealed the driver was in possession of Alprazolam pills without a prescription. She was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 4:58 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of South First Avenue regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker located inside a package. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. Shortly after, the officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of 5th Avenue. An investigation revealed the driver was in possession of the stolen package, property valued at $1,800, and tracking device inside her vehicle. She was also in possession of a package that she stole from a residence in Monrovia. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 8
At about 1:33 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Camino Real Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue for speeding and illegal window tint. The officer discovered the driver had a suspended license and was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools. The 39-year-old male from La Puente was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 6:49 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Las Tunas Drive for having paper license plates. He discovered the driver had expired registration and no insurance. A search of the vehicle revealed he was in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. He was arrested, transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking, and his vehicle was impounded.
Around 5:55 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker located on a bicycle near the Arcade entrance of the mall. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles containing tracking devices to combat the increase in bicycle thefts in this area. Shortly after, the officer conducted an enforcement stop on the bicyclist in the area of Huntington Drive and Old Ranch Road. He provided false name information, however a records check revealed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Pasadena. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 9
Just after 5:20 p.m., officers responded to Arcadia Medical Pharmacy, 612 West Duarte Road, regarding a burglary alarm activation. Video surveillance revealed three male suspects forced entry by smashing a glass window and fled the location with two trash cans filled with medications. The suspects appeared to be possibly African-American, slender build, wearing gloves, dark colored pants, and dark colored jackets with the hoods over their faces. The suspects fled in an unknown type of vehicle.
At about 6:12 a.m., officers responded to Sunny Bay Pharmacy, 450 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary alarm activation. The suspects forced entry by smashing the front glass door and fled with two trash cans filled with various pharmaceuticals, money, and checks. Video surveillance revealed there were three suspects, which appeared to be the same suspects that were recorded in the above incident.
Shortly after 12:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Lenta Lane regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker located inside a package. The officer conducted an enforcement stop on the suspect vehicle and discovered the driver was in possession of the stolen package, property valued at approximately $1,500, and the tracking device. A records check also revealed he had expired registration and was on probation. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Around 9:09 p.m., an officer responded to Long Dragon Realty, 2633 South Baldwin Avenue, in regards to a welfare check. The officer discovered a 10-year-old boy lying on the ground with blankets and a bag of clothing. He explained that his mother instructed him to sleep there overnight and would come back for him the next day. The boy led the officer to his residence in Temple City, but the mother was not located. A report was filed with the Department of Children and Family Services and the juvenile was transported to the LA County Children’s Welcome Center. Detectives located the 43-year-old mother the following day. She was arrested for Willful Cruelty to a Child and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 10
Just after 12:00 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Fifth Avenue and Huntington Drive, and made consensual contact with a male subject riding his skateboard. A search of the subject revealed he was in possession of a glass smoking pipe. The male suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on two bicyclists riding their bicycles on the wrong side of the roadway in the 300 block of Huntington Drive. An investigation revealed one of the subjects, a 30-year-old male from Monrovia, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The other subject was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. Due to his medical conditions, he was cited and released in the field without incident.
Feb. 11
At about 2:48 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Orange Grove Avenue at Lima Avenue for illegally tinted windows and a warrant attached to the license plate. As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed eastbound on Orange Grove Avenue. The vehicle came to a stop at Highland Place and Scenic Drive where the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers conducted an area check, but the suspect was not located. A records check revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a no bail warrant and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. The suspect’s physical description matched that of the registered owner’s. He is described as a 32-year-old Hispanic male from El Monte. The suspect remains outstanding.
Just after 7:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Arcadia Public Library, 20 West Duarte Road, regarding an attempted robbery that just occurred. The victim explained an unknown suspect, described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, about 20-years-old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, approached him with a folding knife and demanded money. After the victim explained he did not have money and began screaming, the suspect jumped into an awaiting vehicle described as a black 4-door sedan. The victim recorded the license plate as the vehicle fled. A records check of the license plate returned to a local address. A short time after, officers located the vehicle parked at a residence in the 100 block of Bonita Avenue. Two subjects then entered the vehicle and were observed leaving the location. Subsequently, officers conducted a traffic stop and saw in plain view a black hooded sweatshirt and a pair of scissors in the backseat. An investigation revealed the 22-year-old male from Temple City thought it would be fun to scare someone. The suspect and his friend who drove the suspect vehicle, a 17-year-old female from Arcadia, were arrested for Attempted Robbery and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The juvenile was later cited and released to her mother.
Feb. 12
Shortly before 7:10 a.m., dispatch alerted officers of an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker located inside a package, which was placed at a residence in the 1000 block of Holly Avenue. Officers responded to a residence in Rosemead where the package had become stationary. An investigation revealed the 43-year-old male had stolen the package containing approximately $1,500 worth of merchandise and the GPS tracking device. He was also in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a welfare check. An investigation revealed a female subject left her two sons, aged 9 and 1, alone inside of her vehicle. The female subject claimed she left her children in the car to go inside the mall quickly because the infant was sleeping, however video surveillance revealed she was shopping for approximately two hours. She was arrested for Child Endangerment and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A report was filed with the Department of Children and Family Services.
Feb. 13
Around 8:04 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street for a broken tail light. The officer discovered the driver had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The male suspect from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just after 8:10 p.m., an officer responded to AMF Bowling Square Lanes, 1020 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report that just occurred. Arcadia Fire arrived on scene to provide medical treatment to the victim who was bleeding from the head and covered in blood. The victim explained two Hispanic males beat him up with a metal baseball bat over a drug debt. The victim believes he knew one of the suspects and would be able to identify both suspects if seen again.
