The Arcadia Elks Lodge and City Clerk Gene Glasco, founder of the Monument Project and chair for the evening, deserve applause!
This group proved that patriotism is alive … there were veterans from every branch of the service in attendance at the dinner, also family of the fallen. The crowd included community leaders and most of the candidates for next April’s election. I also chatted with former Mayor Jim Helms, who holds the honor of being the Arcadia Elks First Exalted Ruler. One of the highlights of the evening was Congresswoman Judy Chu, who spoke eloquently of the project and the successful evening, before presenting the Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Glasco.
The Elks Exalted Ruler Rob Di Gioia was a big part of the evenings planning and preparation of a delicious three course Chicken Alfredo dinner. Among the many check presentations were the Daughter’s of The American Revolution, Arcadia Woman’s Club, Arcadia Elks, numerous American Legion Posts, and more.

If you donate before Feb. 25, in the amount of $100 or more, your name will be on the monument. Contact the Arcadia Elks Lodge at (626) 445-2025 or Gene Glasco.

It was a wonderful evening with a great selection of baskets for raffle.
