Last Monday evening, Jan. 11, Beacon Media was invited to an exclusive event to honor one of the most popular shows on KCET, “Doc Martin.”
KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, celebrated the seventh season premiere of the networks most-watched comedy series, “Doc Martin,” (http://www.kcet.org/shows/doc_martin/) with a fundraiser at the Los Angeles British Consul general’s residence in partnership with BAFTA, Pleasant Holidays, and the Beverly Hilton.
L.A.’s British Consul General Chris O’Connor gave an introductory toast to special guest Ian McNeice, who plays the character Bert Large in “Doc Martin.” McNeice introduced an exclusive sneak peek of the all-new season for guests. Also in attendance were Marion Ross (“Happy Days”), Emmy award winning news anchor Val Zavala, and the cast of KCET’s flagship news series “SoCal Connected.”
Earlier in the day, McNeice and Ross filmed a special on-air, in-studio introduction to the new season, including an interactive question and answer session from questions provided by viewers via social media.
In the coming season, Martin Clunes will reprise his role as Doctor Martin Ellingham, whose combative attitude and tactlessness causes mayhem in the sleepy seaside community of Portwenn. The new season will pick up with Martin’s plan to win his family back, after his wife and child left him in a dramatic season six cliffhanger.
