After the horrific events in Paris on Nov. 13, 2015 that resulted in the tragic deaths of Long Beach State design student Nohemi Gonzalez, British musician Nick Alexander, and many others; Lauren D’Imperio, founder of Protect Our Futures and a recent college graduate and musician, wanted to do something that endures the memories of both Nohemi and Nick.
“I’m 23, and I’m a musician. It could have been me; it could have been my brother. This really hit home for me,” said D’Imperio, who was truly touched by the stories of the victims, particularly Nohemi Gonzalez and Nick Alexander.
So D’Imperio reached out to Kimberly James, owner and CEO of CBM Records, who has a professional relationship with Streaming for Charity. Streaming for Charity allows charities, events, and celebrities to stream a 30-minute online concert, with the proceeds benefiting the charity of the programmer’s choosing. D’Imperio and James approached Streaming for Charity, and the #StreamingForParis concert was born.
D’Imperio will host and perform the first segment of this event, which will be held on Jan. 30, 2016. The rest of the online concert will include CBM Records artist and musicians Spaceship Days, Three Beards, My Rebel Episode, Winter Circle, and friends of CBM Records Avenue of the Giants, the band of Fazal Syed (formerly of Rehab). CBM Records, its distributors, and bands will also be releasing several compilation CDs the beginning of the year, and its artists will set aside a year’s worth of royalties or more to go towards the cause as well.
Music lovers and those who just want to donate to the cause can gain access to the #StreamingForParis concert with a $5 donation via text or mobile link.
Users can text “SFC” to (234) 244-7283, to the Privi Global Services Streaming Platform, or the mobile link www.streamingforcharity.com, and stream the event. The organizers, sponsors, and musicians hope to raise at least $55,000.
