City officials and representatives of ArtCenter College of Design gathered Tuesday to introduce the new name and new look for the City’s public bus system.

The ceremony which was held outside city hall showed off the new Pasadena Transit (Formerly the Pasadena ARTS bus). It’s a new name and a new logo with a brand but the same local, inexpensive public transportation service. Pasadena Transit is now officially here with the formal introduction of its new logo, signs and branding materials Tuesday.

As Mayor Tornek so eloquently put it in his opening remarks, “even getting the new name approved wasn’t easy…” However, he pointed out that the old name confused some residents and visitors falsely believing it only served the local museums such as Norton Simon.

“From humble beginnings in 1994 as a single-line, free ‘shopper shuttle’ to one of the largest locally funded bus systems in Los Angeles County, Pasadena Transit today offers six distinct service lines that helps connect the public to local destinations as well as regional light rail stations and other public bus systems.”

The cost? Really great low fares starting at 35 cents for seniors, 50 cents for students, and 75 cents the rest of us.
