Business Profile: Regus
By J. Shadé Quintanilla
Regus, the world’s largest office space provider, has recently opened a location in Arcadia, creating a special opportunity for business owners in the San Gabriel Valley. With two other locations in Pasadena and many in Southern California, the company has recently expanded its effort to accommodate and support local businesses in their individual ventures.
Established in 1989, Regus was created after the company’s founder and current chief executive officer, Mark Dixon, observed that many business people worked out of hotels and cafes, completely lacking a professional environment to work in. With the goal of providing a suitable workspace for professionals at an affordable cost, Dixon opened the doors of the first Regus business center in Brussels, Belgium. Since then, the global office space provider has greatly expanded with 3,000 locations in 900 cities and 120 countries.
The new Arcadia location, which opened this week, provides business owners with a variety of useful services that aims to build their individual companies. Located in the Gateway building near the Arcadia Shopping Center, Regus has 77 different offices of varying sizes for local businesses looking for an office space that comes supplied with furniture of their choice, receptionist and administrative services, IT technology and high-speed internet. Entrepreneurs also have an option to choose between a plethora of services. From meeting rooms, day offices to coworking spaces and virtual office services for business owners who work from home, Regus helps local businesswomen and men cut costs that comes with leasing out an office by providing them office space that comes equipped with their needs.
One of the notable services available to Regus’ clients is Businessworld membership. Created for business owners who do not always know where their work will take them, the membership allows clients to have access to the company’s 2000 drop-in business lounges all around the world, free WIFI and access to printers, scanners and fax machines. Businessworld members are also eligible for discounts on meeting rooms and temporary private office space at Regus’ various locations.
By providing business owners with Fortune 500 infrastructure overnight, the goal of Regus is to help businesses grow their clientele and help them generate as much income as possible. Through the company’s support services and office space, Regus has, in the past, helped small businesses expand their employees and even the amount of locations they have.
“Our goal is to make [our clients] successful, and the way that we do that is through the way we support them,” said Michael Robertson, the general manager of the Arcadia location. “We’re set up to be partner with them for life for the businesses that they grow.”
The Arcadia location is one many to come to the San Gabriel Valley. By early next year, the company plans on opening another location in West Covina.
