Going out in Arcadia with boots in hand, firefighters are raising money for worldwide research seeking treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and related diseases. They are also helping fund outstanding Muscular Dystrophy Association local clinics, support groups and summer camp.  In 2014, the Arcadia Firefighters raised over $6,000 in one day at Fill the Boot. This year, Fill the Boot will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on West Huntington Drive and South Baldwin Avenue.

Fill the Boot funds support local MDA services, including medical clinics staffed with specialists in neuromuscular disease and special summer camps for kids. California clinics benefiting from Fill the Boot include the MDA/ALS Clinics at UCLA and USC.

Since 1954, professional fire fighters nationwide have been organizing Fill the Boot drives to raise vital funds for MDA local programs, and worldwide research seeking treatments and cures.  MDA presently has $91.4 million in active research grants underway, including 10 projects at UCLA and Cedar-Sinai Medical Center.
