Rose Hills 6th Annual Dia de los Muertos Cultural Festival
Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary celebrates the 6th Annual Día de los Muertos Cultural Festival, combining the Dia de los Muertos tradition with the beautiful story of the Monarch butterflies’ migration. Many stories are told of the mystery around the migration of the Monarchs and local people in Mexico believe that the monarchs return as spirits of their loved ones as it coincides with the Dia de los Muertos date. A limited amount of milkweed seed packets will be distributed to help encourage the healthy migration of the Monarchs, courtesy of the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. This year’s festivities will also include an art exhibit, children’s arts & crafts; a food court and local vendors selling an array of themed crafts. A full program of performances and entertainment will delight attendees of all ages. In addition, families are invited to create their own altar and enter the community altar contest.
