The motto for the national credit union movement is “People Helping People,” but for now, a popular local credit union is modifying it to “People Helping Animals.” Member-owned, non-profit financial cooperative Pasadena Federal Credit Union (PFCU) joined an exciting movement called “Share the Love” and they need support from the community!  If they win, Pasadena Humane Society (PHS) and SPCA will be awarded a $10,000, or maybe even $25,000 total donation from the Love My Credit Union Rewards program.  Individuals can vote once per day through Dec. 24, 2015, and are entered into a drawing for a $100 VISA Gift Card – just for voting! What are they voting on? A video. Share the Love is a campaign that invites credit unions to create videos about how they give back to their communities. These videos are being shared nationwide to promote the credit union mission while inspiring random acts of kindness.

Pasadena Federal Credit Union, founded by city of Pasadena employees in 1935, is celebrating 80 years serving the San Gabriel Valley and is the 2014 Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Small Business Corporate Citizen of the Year. It’s because of partnerships with some of the SGV’s most beloved non-profits and charities that PFCU was also named “SGV’s Best Credit Union” by readers of this newspaper this year.

PFCU is excited to help promote the credit union mission while raising money for the Pasadena Humane Society. Voting is easy!

  1. Visit the voting page at http://www.lovemycreditunion.org/sharethelove/index.php?vid=2c7d1d27-af1f-a9ee-6d23-560ce51adb11. This link is found in the “Latest News” section of PFCU’s Home Page pfcu.org
  2. View the Paws for a Cause: Pasadena FCU and the Wiggle Waggle Walk video.
  3. Register and vote so PFCU can win $10,000-$25,000 for the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA. Registering requires e-mail verification and takes a minute of two. Once registered, voting takes seconds each day!

Elizabeth Campo, Sr. Vice President of the PHS, said, “We’re thrilled with the financial services Pasadena Federal Credit Union provides for our staff and volunteers, and grateful that their PFCU Paws for a Cause team participates in our popular Wiggle Waggle Walk each year.” This year’s event was on Sept. 27, 2015, in Brookside Park and the video, titled Paws for a Cause: Pasadena FCU and the Wiggle Waggle Walk highlights the event. PFCU President and CEO, Ron Berry, said, “PFCU is more than a financial institution. We offer great rates on loans for cars, homes, boats, motorcycles and so much more, but also give back to our community.”

The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA is an independent, donor-supported, non-profit agency that provides animal care for abandoned and homeless animals. An open door agency, PHS welcomes and cares for all animals in its service area regardless of age, medical condition, breed or any other criteria. The Society is responsible for animal control and welfare for nine area cities that include Arcadia, Bradbury, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. With over 70 employees, the organization is dedicated to promoting humane treatment and quality of life for all animals, domestic, exotic, wild or livestock. To accomplish this goal, the Society advocates and enforces the humane treatment of animals and fosters a public awareness of humane care through education and example.

Voting is open Oct. 1 – Dec. 24, 2015.  The community is encouraged to share the link with family and friends through email, social media, and more. Together, as one community, we can help make a difference in the lives of many animals!
