Different types of influenza viruses can spread through the community during flu season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone ages six months and older get the vaccine annually to protect against the most common types of influenza viruses.  Even healthy children and adults can get very sick from influenza viruses.

High-risk groups susceptible to severe influenza complications include seniors ages 65 and older, pregnant women and people with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, chronic lung disease and diabetes.

For more than 120 years, Pasadena’s Public Health Department has worked to promote and protect the health of the greater Pasadena area. Visit www.cityofpasadena.net/publichealth for more info.
