The San Gabriel Valley’s Largest Culinary Celebration

Thousands are expected to attend Pasadena’s largest culinary celebration, “The Taste of South Lake,” Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can enjoy culinary delights from over 25 South Lake Avenue restaurants, live cooking demos from the area’s most talented chefs, music performances from internationally known bands, an interactive vendor village and much more!

Now in its seventh year, the Taste of South Lake offers guests an opportunity to indulge in an adventure of taste, sampling popular South Lake Pasadena restaurants. From the award-winning American cuisine of Pie ‘n Burger to Italian from Celestino Ristorante & Bar to SanSai Japanese, Taste of South Lake offers something for everyone. The free and outdoor festival features a special live cooking demonstration stage with such famed chefs as PBS’s Cathlyn Choi cooking up authentic Korean fare and “The Queen of Spice” Alejandra Schrader who has been featured on such popular shows as Master Chef and Food Fighters. This year, The Taste of South Lake also honors chefs cooking healthy plant-based cuisine by featuring two top vegan chefs, RG Enriquez of Astig Vegan and Chef Yvonne Ardestani, creator of “My Eclectic Kitchen” cookbook and app.

Special music performances will take place throughout the day beginning with space funk musical collective Attic Empire, popular indie folk pop duo Freedom Fry, Korean-American indie folk rock band Run River North, and indie synth pop duo The Bird and The Bee who has been featured on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Spinning between sets is tastemaker Grant Owens from We Found New Music.

The Taste of South Lake is presented by the South Lake Business Association and co-sponsored by Corporate Center Pasadena. The South Lake Business Association gives special thanks to Corporate Center Pasadena, KCRW 89.9, Logix Federal Credit Union, Pasadena Outlook, Pasadena Star News, Pasadena Weekly and Universal Protection Service.

“Taste of South Lake celebrates and showcases the South Lake Avenue District while providing the ideal community building experience. The event is also our way of welcoming guests and thanking them for being patrons of the South Lake Avenue District.”– Gina Tleel, Executive Director of the South Lake Business Association.
