Providence Christian College welcomed its largest class in school history for the third consecutive year. More than 80 new students enrolled at Providence this fall. The incoming class is a 71% increase from 2014′s incoming class and helped to grow the total student body by roughly 61%. The launch of the athletics programs gave a substantial boost to an already robust recruiting class of new students.

Roughly half of students hail from California, but Providence has a good share of its students from other states like Arizona, Washington, Iowa, Michigan, Hawaii, and Texas. International students from Canada, Brazil and Jamaica also round out the study body.

This marks the inaugural year of Sea Beggar soccer (men’s and women’s), volleyball (women’s) and cycling and the second year of baseball. Men’s and women’s cross country takes its place among the lineup of athletics as the founding sport and is in its 7th season of competition. Providence joined the NAIA in February of 2015 and will be competing in its first official season of collegiate play.

Dr. Jim Belcher, president of Providence, stated, “We are thrilled at the jump in enrollment this year and are excited that both traditional students and athletes have chosen Providence for these crucial formative years of their lives. Shaping young people in their faith articulation, critical thinking, communication skills and leadership are just some of the core competencies our liberal arts graduates will gain in order to be global citizens when they leave Providence in four years.”

Founded in 2005, Providence Christian College is a Reformed Christian college in Pasadena, CA, whose mission is to equip students to be firmly grounded in biblical truth; thoroughly educated in the liberal arts; and fully engaged in their church, their community, and the world for the glory of God and for service to humanity. Through Faith Guided Learning™, Providence Christian College offers a broad liberal arts education with more than a dozen career concentrations all experienced in a close knit, residential community with small class sizes averaging 13 students to each professor.
