Pasadena High Closes Early Due to Heat
‘Sun Day’ Given to Students When Air Conditioner Malfunctions
Last Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, Pasadena-area parents were notified that Pasadena High School, due to an air conditioner malfunction, would be shutting its doors at 1:05 p.m., approximately two hours before the school day is normally over. The message was sent out at 12:35 p.m. via Nixle alert.
Parents were informed that the high school’s cooling system had been malfunctioning since the morning and were encouraged to pick up their children as soon as possible. School buses also delivered students home early.
Athletic activities did continue after school, but LEARN activities were cancelled.
“We apologize for the inconvenience but are taking this action to make sure PHS students are both safe and comfortable,” was the official reason given by PUSD.
At the time, crews were working on the cooling system to ensure it was operational by Monday.
