Sept. 30 Is Arcadia High School Club Day
By Jonathan Tsou
On Sept. 30th, 2015, Arcadia High School’s Associated Student Body will be hosting their annual Club Day. The Associated Student Body, also known as ASB, recognize that Arcadia High School’s student body is a melting pot of backgrounds, strengths, and creative abilities.
Together all clubs, which are student-led, form an accurate reflection on the different interest of Arcadia High School students. On Club Day, tables will be set up, and representatives from each club will offer information to each student. Club representatives are able to recruit new students who share the same interest as their club.
The Associated Student Body’s Inter-Club Council, led by Tyler Wong, sponsors more than 50 students-led clubs. These clubs involve a wide range of interests, from cultural clubs to service learning clubs.
Cynthia Guo, the President of Arcadia High School’s Key Club, a club where students are able to give back to the community, said, “For club day this year, [Key Club] is planning to bring out all [our] spirit items and informational posters in the hope of capturing many students’ interest and informing them why Key Club is a perfect club for them.”
One of Japanese Pop Revolution Club’s officials, Alan Lu, indicated that many clubs, including the Japanese Pop Revolution Club, have spent many hours of their own time in hopes of making their club stand out amidst the crowds and stands; using that time to create a sophisticated flyer and attention-grabbing posters.
These clubs are intended to augment student life, promote the development of student leadership, communicate between students, and allow for innovation. Students are able to pursue interests beyond the classroom environment.
Although clubs are an important aspect of Arcadia High School student life, academic teams are another significant part of Arcadia High School. The school has ten amazing academic teams. Last year, Arcadia High School had five Nationals teams including, Constitution Team, History Bowl, Ocean Sciences Bowl, Science Bowl, and Quiz Bowl. Quiz Bowl was also able to bring back the trophy as the 2015 National Champions.
