Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report
For the period of Sunday, September 13th, through Saturday, September 19th, the Police Department responded to 1,088 calls for service of which 110 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

September 13

Just before 5:19 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Golden West Avenue and Huntington Drive for driving on the wrong side of the road. The officer discovered the vehicle had been involved in a collision, and through a field sobriety test, concluded the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. The 32-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 7:04 p.m., an officer responded to Rite Aid, 165 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed two unidentified suspects stole various cosmetic products, and as they exited without making payment, they threatened to spray the employees with pepper spray. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspects are described as two black females in their late teens.

September 14

At about 8:53 a.m., an officer responded to Goldstein’s Bagel Bakery, 412 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding an attempted commercial burglary. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) removed the drive-through window but did not steal anything from the business. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 10:58 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2300 block of South Eighth Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the unknown suspect(s) broke a rear window, stole the victim’s jewelry, and fled undetected. The investigation is ongoing.

September 15

Around 1:59 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Camino Real Avenue for having a broken tail light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 62-year-old male from El Monte was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Just after 6:48 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of Sunset Boulevard for having expired registration. A records check of the vehicle revealed the registration had expired; however, the vehicle displayed a 2016 registration sticker. The driver, a 39-year-old male from Arcadia, knowingly placed a registration sticker from a different vehicle to avoid the renewal process. The suspect was cited and released in the field.

September 16

Shortly after 10:33 a.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed an unknown suspect stole 12 designer jackets before exiting and failing to make payment. The investigation is ongoing.

At about 9:17 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 000 block of Bonita Street regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect broke into a maintenance closet and stole various tools. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

September 17

At approximately 10 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of El Monte Avenue and La Sierra Avenue for having an active warrant attached to the license plate. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 37-year-old female from West Covina had never been issued a license and the warrant was for her husband. She was cited and released in the field. Her vehicle was left legally parked.

Around 12:44 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive, regarding a student in possession of marijuana. The officer determined the 16-year-old male from Arcadia was in possession of marijuana and a smoking pipe. He was cited and released to his father.

September 18

At about 9:35 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of North Santa Anita Avenue in reference to a subject check request. Officers discovered the 56-year-old male from Sierra Madre was operating a business without a license. The suspect was cited and released in the field.

Just after 9:43 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of Foothill Boulevard regarding an auto burglary report. An investigation revealed an unidentified suspect entered the vehicle by unknown means and stole the victim’s cassette player. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

September 19

Just after 2:37 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of Foothill Boulevard for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. A field sobriety test revealed the 22-year-old male from Glendora had a blood alcohol content of .132%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 2:57 p.m., an officer responded to the horse trail south of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue regarding two male and female transients fighting. The officer discovered an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend escalated when the male suspect punched the female victim numerous times. The 52-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The female victim was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for clearance.
