Approved by Design Review Committee
At the Design Review Committee (DRC) meeting this week, Monrovia staff reviewed an application for a large family daycare facility to be located at 317 North Alta Vista Avenue. Based on changes to State law, a large family daycare facility (up to 14 children) is considered a permitted residential use, which allows the city “very little discretionary review,” according to the City Manager’s report.
The only items that the city can consider with a large family day care application include spacing concentration, traffic control, parking, and noise control. After a significant amount of public comment, the DRC approved the large family day care use at 317 North Alta Vista Avenue, contingent on the development and approval of a traffic safety plan to be coordinated with the neighborhood and submitted for review to the Planning Division and Police Department.
