Two children hospitalized after a pine tree fell on them were released from Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center this weekend, according to a release sent out by Pasadena Fire Department.

Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department, said the boy was released Saturday while the girl was discharged Sunday.

Both will be recuperating at home, she added.

Eight children were injured when a 70-foot tall Italian Stone pine tree fell last Tuesday near the Kidspace Children’s Museum at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd. Two of the children were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The children had finished their daycamp activities and were waiting to be picked up that afternoon.

Pasadena, which has its own arborist, hired an independent arborist to investigate the incident.
