Next Tuesday, August 4th, is the 32nd Annual National Night Out. In Monrovia, the event is being celebrated by Monrovia P.D. at Library Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with food, music, and unity. This is a chance for Monrovians to meet the men and women behind the badge and learn more about why they chose this profession and what they are doing to keep this community safe.
National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and will involve over 16,540 communities from all 50 states. Monrovia’s event is designed to provide an informal opportunity for our citizens and our neighborhood watch groups to meet with our officers, share a meal, and ask those questions they have always wanted to ask a police officer.
At the last city council meeting, Mayor Tom Adams advocated that his fellow council members all wear Hawaiian shirts at their next meeting in honor of the admission of Hawaii to the union. Since National Night Out falls on the same day as the council meeting, break out the luau gear and head to Library Park on Tuesday.
