Dustbowl Revival Performs July 30; Big Hero 6 Screens July 31

The City of Arcadia’s free summer concert series started on July 9 and will continue until Aug. 20. The concerts are held on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30-8 p.m. on the lawn between City Hall and the Police Department (240 West Huntington Drive). The concert on July 30 features the modern and contemporary jazz band Dustbowl Revival. The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, California-based collective that merges old school bluegrass, gospel, pre-war blues and the hot swing of New Orleans to form a spicy roots cocktail. Known for its roaring live sets, Dustbowl bravely brings together many styles of traditional American music. The band was named “Best Live Band in LA” by The LA Weekly, and each Dustbowl performance promises to be a white-knuckle ride through the history of American folk music that rarely stays just on the stage. Call it the new old-timey dance hall sound made fresh by some of the best soloists in the business.

Bring the kids out to participate in the free fun zone, featuring games, crafts, and activities each week. In addition, The Grilled Cheese Truck will be at all of the 2015 Summer Concert Series. We look forward to making your hearts melt with all of our cheesy goodness. A portion of the proceeds will be given to the Recreation and Community Services Department. For more information, please call (626) 574-5113.

The City also hosts Movies in the Park, which are held on Friday evenings with activities starting at 7:30 p.m. on the lawn between City Hall and the Police Department (240 West Huntington Drive). It started on July 10 and will continue until Aug. 21. On Friday, July 31, Big Hero 6, a 2014 American 3-D computer-animated superhero action comedy film, will screen. It is rated PG. Movies in the Park is provided in partnership with CHOICESS Arcadia. For more information, please call (626) 574-5113.
