The Daniel Rolnik Gallery debuts its new vibrant show “Pacific & Northwest” the art of Bwana Spoons and Tripper Dungan, on July 18th with an opening reception held from 7pm – 11pm.
Bwana Spoons is a multifaceted artist who concocts and illustrates imaginary hybrid animals that live in a prehistoric place in his mind – which he has dubbed “Forest Island”. Each inhabitant of Forest Island comes with its own endearing back story and eclectic mannerisms.
Tripper Dungan creates fully immersive experiences allowing viewers to step into his artworks. Most recently he successfully funded a project on Kickstarter named Lookie House, a structure he then built on a plot in Downtown Portland.
For the “Pacific&Northwest” show Bwana Spoons will be introducing new characters from his Forest Island mindset, and Tripper Dungan will debut his stereoscopic paintings which come to life when viewed through 3-D glasses. This show will be the first time the artists exhibiting as peers, Tripper Dungan used to assist Bwana Spoons at Grass Hut Corp.
