From the Philippines to Seattle to New York, Los Angeles, around the globe and on screen, Jennifer Paz has lent her silver-toned voice and consummate acting skills to productions ranging from Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Touched by An Angel and more. Last summer, she took Cal Phil audiences by storm with a brief appearance singing a medley of songs from Disney’s smash animated feature Frozen.
This weekend, Jennifer, along with her fiancé Anthony Fedorov, is headlining Cal Phil’s “Rodgers, Hammerstein & More” concert Saturday night at Santa Anita Race Track and Sunday afternoon at Walt Disney Concert Hall. On the bill are highlights from The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Cinderella and more, including some special surprises.
“Working with Jennifer last summer was a real treat,” said Maestro Vener. “Her voice is gorgeous, and her ability to project character through music is unparalleled. I’m thrilled at the prospect of working with her again—and having her equally talented and accomplished singing and life partner Anthony Fedorov join us. The love, joy, and passion they exude when singing together is something everyone will remember for a lifetime.”
The youngest of four children, Jenner, at age five, moved to America with her family, settling in Seattle, where her mother’s brother was living. Her life in Seattle led her to the University of Washington, where at the age of 21, having completed her freshman year, she left school to take on a lead role in the first National Tour of Miss Saigon.
Since Miss Saigon, Jennifer has appeared on Broadway in Les Misérables (10th Anniversary cast) and made her international stage debut in The Fantasticks with Singapore Repertory Theatre. Jennifer is a soloist with Do You Hear the People Sing Concert Tour celebrating the music of Les Miz and Miss Saigon creators Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg. Her Los Angeles stage credits include David Henry Hwang’s newly adapted Flower Drum Song (pre-Broadway Mark Taper Forum and NYC workshop) where she took over the role of Mei-Li for the production’s celebrated five-week extension.
For her theatre work, Jennifer has received multi-award nominations and wins including a 2008 LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Best Lead Actress; is a three-time LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award nominee, a Carbonnell Award Winner, a Helen Hayes Award Nominee, a San Diego Critics Circle nominee, and a 2011 IRNE Nominee for best lead actress. Paz’ film and TV credits include Can’t Hardly Wait and Touched by An Angel. She is also the voice of Lapis Lazuli on Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe.
Jennifer splits her time between Seattle and Los Angeles and is engaged to singer/songwriter/actor Anthony Fedorov—the two recently welcomed their first child, son Julian. Together the real-life couple forms the duo Auraganix and recently released their duo debut children’s album Every Little Thing.
A California Philharmonic show is more than just a concert, it is an experience. Saturdays are always right on track with concerts at Santa Anita Race Track. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. to pre-concert dining including delicious gourmet food offerings available on-site, full bars, and live jazz. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Table and lawn seating on the lush green grass of Santa Anita Race Track’s infield are available, complete with the area’s best unobstructed view of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.
