Summer is LA’s time to shine, especially on a 3 day weekend dedicated to celebrating a holiday which combines BBQing, pool partying, explosions in the sky and wearing as much red white and blue as possible. All of America will be engaged in living it up this weekend in the name of freedom, but as the age old saying goes “California knows how to party”. Which brings us to our top picks for this weekends 4th of July parties in LA. 

Warm Up – July 3rd

Slow Roast x The Do-Over BBQ

The folks at the Do Over and Slow Roast are kicking off the 4th of July festivities a day early on the 3rd at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Come hungry for beats and BBQ, because nothing says “America” like a slow roast and toast combo.

The Standard & LA CANVAS Present: July 4th at The Rooftop

The Standard & LA Canvas are teaming up to put on the perfect 4th of July function, a rooftop pool party atop of the Standard’s mesmerizing Downtown LA location. Spend your day swimming in sounds by Kenny Summit and friends. The free party starts at 1 and ends at 7, giving you just the right amount of time to grab a bite to eat before staking out your ideal fireworks viewing spot (downtown LA is full of these). The Standard is also offering special discounted room packages with the code: FIREWORKS.

Rhondesia 4th of July w/ Robert Owens, Till Von Sein, Trus’me, Nadastrom, & more

Let your freak (American) flag fly at A Club Called Rhonda’s pool party Rhondesia, taking over the Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel from 1pm – 10pm on the 4th. Rhondesia boasts an incredible techno filled lineup of Robert Owens, Till Von Sein, Trus’me, Nadastrom and more, with the added promise of “big heat, thick beats and the softest of sheets”. If you just can’t get enough, or plan on having a little too much…rooms at the Mondrian are also available for purchase.

1:00 pm – 10:00pm. Tickets are $25. 21+

Justin Jay & Lee K at Sound

After a marathon day of BBQ’s, pool parties and fireworks, slip into Sound Nightclub for their take on the 4th, featuring Dirtybird’s Justin Jay and FNGRS CRSSD’s Lee K for an all American night of good ol’ deep house.

10:00 pm – 4:00 am. Tickets are $20. 21+

Mixmag: One Year In LA

America isn’t the only UK export with a birthday this weekend. British electronic magazine / livestream party pros – Mixmag is celebrating their one year anniversary in Los Angeles with a party at Le Jardin (the newly redone patio at Lure Nightclub in Hollywood). Mixmag’s party features curated DJ’s from around the world including Chaim, Manik, Droog and more pumped through the crowd on Funktion One speakers mmm.

FIREWORKS

The 89th Americafest at the Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl hosts it’s 89th annual Americafest – an all day 4th of July celebration of family fun starting at 2pm with food, games and rides in preparation for the world-class firework show at 9pm . Tickets are $13 a pop, with ages 5 & under free. Active Military with ID will receive 4 free tickets and veterans 1. Parking at the bowl is $20, but worth it if you plan to play all day.

2:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Tickets are $13. All Ages.

Grand Park Forth of July Block Party

Downtown LA will be celebrating all day with their Forth of July Block Party held in the center of Los Angeles at Grand Park. The event begins at 3pm and welcomes all to join in for free (including pups). The Block Party includes ample food trucks, four stages of live music, mural painting, fireworks and more. Make note that the park’s subway station will be closed, so be sure to get off at the Pershing Square stop.

3:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Free. All Ages.

Marina Del Rey’s 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

If over top 4th of July events are not your thing, escape to the beach for a watered down take on Independence Day. Marina Del Rey’s 20 minute breathtaking fireworks show is shot off of a barge in the Marina’s channel, simultaneously illuminating the sky and water below.

9:00 pm. Free. All Ages.

Cool Down – July 5th

DIM MAK + The Well = WAVEY Pool Party 

Re-coop from the 4th of July hoopla at the WAVEY pool party put on by Steve Aoki’s record label DIM MAK, and LA’s hub of fashion and hair The Well, at downtown’s newest obsession Hotel Figueroa. Splash around to Grammy award winner and Daft Punk collaborator Todd Edwards in between runs to the bar for $5 PBR’s ($30 buckets of beer) and tacos.

2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Arrive before 3pm for $10 entry. 21+
